Ardfert Medical Centre is part of the national Heartwatch project.

This is a nationwide initiative to try to prevent further cardiac problems for patients who have already had heart attacks, bypasses or angioplasties.

It involves regular reviews with attempts to modify any cardiac risk factors. Results to date show that 81 lives have been saved through this programme.
