Since late 2008, smears have been free for women aged 25-60 at 3-5 yearly intervals. This is an excellent way of detecting precancerous changes that may be treated before anything more serious develops. They are ideally performed mid-cycle but phone us if you aren’t sure about when would best suit. These are usually done by our nurse or one of our female GPs. If you are under 25 or over 60 and you have any abnormal vaginal bleeding or pain, please talk to us as it may need investigation. There is a charge for these smears.
Please bring your letter from Cervical Check when attending for a smear. If you are unsure whether you are due a smear test or not, you can log onto the CervicalCheck website to find out.
